Rules:
- Full equipment including helmet is mandatory; face shield and mouth guard is recommended.
- No body contact is allowed.
- No slap shots allowed (including clearing attempts from defensive zone)– infraction results in a whistle and a face-off back in offender’s zone (knee will be determining point).
- Minor Penalty = 2 minutes.
- Major Penalty= 5 minutes and a game misconduct.
- Any major penalty could result in expulsion from tournament pending committee review.
- Same player with 3 minor penalties in one game equals expulsion from that game.
- No penalty for flipping the puck over the glass in own zone (including goalies).
- Any abuse of an official will not be tolerated (a minor penalty,10 min. misconduct or game misconduct may be given at the referee’s discretion).
- No touch icing.
- Two line passes are permitted from your own end.
- Lines can change following an icing call.
- Each team allowed one 60 second time-out per game. (only is Semi & Finals games)
- Fighting equals expulsion from tournament.
- Alcohol is permitted in the dressing rooms as long as you purchase the alcohol from the arena staff. NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL PERMITTED.
- There is NO SMOKING allowed on the premises…that includes outside of the facility.
- Please clear the dressing rooms after 30 minutes of completing your game to accommodate the next game.
- If possible, please bring both a light and dark set of jerseys.
- Any game forfeit results in a 1-0 win for the opposing team.
- Dressing room keys will be distributed by the facility for each game. Room keys are the responsibility of the team for each game.
- The Pro Shop will be open and available at the site. The facility is hosting a youth tournament on the other 2 pads at the same time so it will be very busy.
- Please bring your own water bottles and practice pucks. Game pucks will be provided.
- Food will be available for purchase at the Restaurant upstairs at the arena.
- St. John Ambulance will be available at the site for any required medical attention.
- All other rules as per the official rule book of Hockey Canada.
ROUND ROBIN/GROUP GAME FORMAT:
- 3-minute warm-up prior to the start of each game.
- Games consist of two 15-minute stop time periods.
- Running time for last 5 minutes of game if goal differential is 3 or more.
- If game is tied at the end of regulation, a 3-person (NHL style) simultaneous shoot-out will take place to determine a winner.
- If still tied after first 3 shooters, the shoot-out will continue in sudden death until a winner is declared. Shooters cannot shoot twice until all members of the team have gone once.
- Due to time constraints, final period or portions there of may be switched to running time.
POINT SYSTEM (Only applies to Round Robin/Group Games):
- Regulation Win = 3 points
- Shoot-out Win = 2 points
- Shoot-out Loss = 1 point
- Regulation Loss = 0 points
- Team with most points in their Grouping is placed ahead.
TIEBREAKERS (in Order):
Note: Goals tallied will be from regulation time only, not shoot-outs.
- Head to Head record
- Goals For Divided by Total Goals…(GF/(GF + GA)) …higher ratio is ranked higher
- Least penalty minutes
- Most Goals – For
- Least Goals – Against
- Coin Toss
SEMI-FINALS GAME FORMAT:
- The team with most points in each group will advance to the semi-finals and will be ranked as Teams #1, #2 and #3 (highest to lowest points).
- The team with most points after the group winners will advance to the semi-finals as a Wild Card team and ranked as Team #4.
- The Wild Card team will play the group winner with the most points that was not in the same group as the Wild Card winner, in Semi-Final #1.
- The remaining two teams will play in Semi-Final #2.
- 3-minute warm-up prior to the start of each game.
- Games consist of two 15-minute stop time periods.
- Running time for last 5 minutes of game if goal differential is 3 or more.
- If the game ends in a tie, there will be a 5-minute, stop time sudden death 3 on 3 OT.
- If still tied, there will be a 3-personshoot-out (see shoot-out rules from round robin/group play).
CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL GAME FORMAT:
- Winners of Semi-final #1 and Semi-Final #2 will advance to the Championship Final.
- 3-minute warm-up prior to the start of the game.
- Game will consist of two 15-minute stop time periods.
- If the game ends in a tie, there will be a 10-minute sudden death 3 on 3 OT…first5 minutes run time, last 5-minutes stop time.
- If still tied, there will be a 3-personshoot-out (see shoot-out rules from round robin/group play)
FINAL STANDINGS:
- Overall Final Standings shall be used to determine groupings for next year’s tournament. An Olympic Tournament style format will be used as follows:
- Group “A” (Champion, 6th, 7th, 12th)
- Group “B” (2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th)
- Group “C” (3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th)
